What’s in Your Nail Products? Why I Chose Bio Sculpture
When it comes to nails, I’ve always believed beauty should feel as good as it looks.
That’s one of the biggest reasons I chose Bio Sculpture for my nail services. I wanted a
system that feels premium, performs beautifully, and supports a more health-conscious approach to nails — without relying on ingredients many clients are becoming more aware of and, quite rightly, more cautious about.
The truth is, it’s easy to ignore what’s in nail products because the finish looks glossy and
the result feels simple. But ingredients matter. Some commonly used gel ingredients can be irritating, sensitising, or problematic for people with sensitive skin or repeated exposure over
time.
What are HEMA and TPO?
If you’ve heard the terms HEMA or TPO before, you’re not alone — they’re being talked
about more and more in the beauty world.
HEMA is a methacrylate ingredient often used in gel products to help them adhere well and wear longer. The issue is that it’s also recognised as a common allergen in nail products, and in some people it can trigger contact dermatitis, redness, itching, swelling, or more serious sensitivity over time.
TPO is a photoinitiator, which means it helps gel cure under UV or LED light. It plays a functional role in the product, but it has also drawn more attention from a safety perspective, which is why many professional brands are moving toward TPO-free options.
Why does that matter?
Because reactions don’t always happen straight away.
A lot of people use gel products for years before they start noticing irritation. Sometimes it shows up as sore fingertips, dry or inflamed skin, lifting nails, or a full allergy that can make future nail services much harder to tolerate. That’s why I think it’s so important to be
informed about what you’re putting on your body — especially with products that are used regularly and come into close contact with the skin.
It’s surprisingly easy to be unaware of the risks when something is marketed as “standard” or “normal” in the industry. But being common doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best choice for everyone.
Why I chose Bio Sculpture
I chose Bio Sculpture because it reflects the kind of service I want to offer: thoughtful, premium, and client-focused.
Bio Sculpture’s system is known for its nail-health approach, with a professional soak-off gel formula and ingredient standards that align with a cleaner, more considered nail service. Their Biogel range is described as HEMA-free, and the brand also highlights formulas free from several commonly avoided ingredients, including formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, and camphor.
That matters to me because I want my clients to enjoy beautiful nails without feeling like they have to compromise on their wellbeing to get them.
A more health-conscious way to wear nails for me, nails aren’t just about colour — they’re part of your overall self-care.
Choosing a premium system like Bio Sculpture means I can offer a manicure experience that feels:
- More considered.
- More professional.
- Better aligned with sensitive clients.
- More focused on nail health and long-term wear.
- Less likely to include ingredients many people now actively want to avoid.
That doesn’t mean every product is automatically unsafe. It simply means it’s worth paying
attention, asking questions, and making informed choices rather than assuming all nail systems are equal.
Final Thoughts
I know beauty clients want results — and you should. But I also believe you deserve products that are chosen with care.
Bio Sculpture stood out to me because it offers the polished finish and durability people
expect from a professional nail service, while supporting a more health-conscious approach behind the scenes. If you’ve been looking for a nail system that feels premium, cleaner, and more intentional, this is exactly why I chose it.
